The Greatest Gift You Can Give this World

Everyone has an opinion of who they think you should be. All the experiences of our life feed into who you, and others, think you should be. The experiences and influences can be as obvious as the house you grew up in and the friends you choose to be around, to the not so obvious as the looks you receive across the room from a stranger.

Yes, you should listen to feedback and correction from others, especially if you hear more than once your behavior is causing others to feel bad about themselves. Also, if your behavior is self-destructive, by all means, listen to the guidance of others who you trust and who love you. There are absolutely times when we all need a course correction in our lives.

With that disclaimer being said, what about when others do not want your soul to soar? What about when their own limiting beliefs try to limit you? Their attack on you can be in your face and confrontational or sly and delivered as sarcastic, mean or demeaning remarks. Both of these behaviors can come from their own fear, jealousy or their feelings of inadequacy. This article isn’t long enough to address all the fears others can have about you following your soul path, but know you are stronger than their fear, jealousy and inadequacy. Be who you were created to be, even in the face of adversity.

You were not put on this earth to follow someone else’s soul plan. You have your own. You were put on this earth to be you. Other people can even come to you in what they believe is love and concern for you, however, if their opinions of you do not resonate then take them with a grain of salt. If their opinions make your soul shudder in their judgmentalness, then know their opinions are not for your greater good. The first reaction is to judge back, however, they do not know what they don’t know. The best course of action is to react in love. Yes, I do know one of the hardest things you will ever do is to react in love in the face of other people’s judgmentalness. However, their opinion does not define, nor affect, you. Be who you were created to be; not who others think you should be.

Just as you were put on this earth to follow your soul’s plan, so were others, even those who judge you. We can have different opinions and different beliefs and still walk in love and acceptance. In the words of Maya Angelou “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better”. You can give this world no better gift than to be who your soul is craving to be. Go forth and be you!
